Don't forget that DEET is a very effective solvent. It will melt some types of plastic.

It might be worth it to buy some stuff from the dollar store and test it first.

Personally, I'd want something really bulletproof like real Nalgene bottles -- and then I'd put that in a Ziplock. I hate having containers of stuff like that break and get all over my stuff.

Nalgene bottles are available down to 1oz .

Small glass vials might be OK too.

You could try a mining supplies store. They store gold flakes in small vials.

I don't know if they have any that are waterproof. You could call and ask. Homepage for The Lifestyle Store: http://www.lifestylestore.com

I think they would be. When I used to pan for gold, we'd put the flakes in one of those micro vials with water because it was impossible to get them all in without washing them in.

For deet, get the single pack wipes. Saves the hassle, and the issue of having one of these tubes open up on you.

Could be used to stack pills in a secure, compact space?

Hi Kris,

I have used plastic tubelike containers for the 100% Deet Bug Dope in my Medium Size Patrol Pack Kit. The tubes look like the "Centifuge Tubes" that Blast posted but have treaded screw-on tops. I got them from work where we use them for wildlife DNA samples. I have some at the house but the box they came from is at my District Office 100 miles away so I cannot tell you the brand name. I will PM you the brand name next time I see the box.

Mike

Could you use the MRE Tabasco bottle? Would check to make sure that the deet didn't melt the plastic cap.

I use a mini Tabasco bottle for holding a spare charge of lighter fluid (naptha) for my zippo. And thank you to whoever posted that on this forum some time ago.
