why not? Certainly in a "stay and dig-in" scenario you couldn't carry sufficient "stuff" in a lightweight gear set to be able to setup a base- camp. OTOH, in a "run to safe haven" scenario where you have a relative, friend, country-cabin etc to run to speed of travel is paramount and amount of gear carried is not so important. In such a scenario I would think that an ultralight backpacking approach would be just the thing. The more you carry the slower you move.
