I managed to free up a cargo pocket on my shorts (Woolrich Elite) and it's empty. Seeking advice as to what I should fill it with. Currently this is what I carry when not at work:

On belt:
Some sort of 1911 in a Milt Sparks VM2 holster. 2 magazine pouch and Surefire Z2 on weak side.

Front Right Pocket:
SW 642 snub nose .38

Right Upper Pocket:
LG8300 Cell Phone
Leatherman Squirt P4
Gerber Multiplier
Kershaw Pocket Knife

Right Cargo Pocket:
Wallet ($100 spare cash, emergency contact list, P38, Extra Keys)
Fenix P1D or Surefire E1E w/KL1 lighthead

Right Rear Pocket:
Emerson CQC-7 w/wave

Front Left Pocket:
Keys

Left Upper Pocket:
Blackberry 8700

Left Cargo Pocket:
Empty

Primary AO is the Washington, DC metro area. Biggest threats (I feel) are terrorist attack on mass transit, soft targets (ie active shooter in shopping mall), car/truck/bus bomb, etc.

What comes to mind:

Pocket organizer with a flat-fold paper mask, right-in-the-rain notebook, pen or pencil, pack of matches, bandanna, and some individually wrapped mints.

In my cargo pockets I carry, shout portable wipes, poison oak & ivy cleanser towelette, deep woods off towelette, a kleenex pocket pack & a wet ones antibacterial moist wipe.

So let me get this right. . . You carry a 1911 but you don't know what sort of 1911 it is? You back it up w/ a .38 snub, carry an LG cell phone and a Blackberry, two locking folding knives, two multi-tools, an excellent Surefire and a very good LED b/u light, and you want to know what to carry in your empty pocket. Sure, get an Ultralight .5 First Aid Kit from Adventure Medical Kits. If you have room for a back-up get a Wound Closure Kit too.

So is this 1911 government issue?

I got to say that sure does sound like a heavy amount of equipment. Your pants must weigh 8 pounds.

You're ID. I'm going to assume you are a federal agent of some type, rather than someone who is trying to become a test case to see if the recent court ruling will nullify the DC carry law.

Sure sounds like you would need some sort of trauma gear-
say lots of of sterile and occlusive dressings and tape to
hold it all together. A pocket mask for CPR and
gloves.

Also eye and lung protection for after the fact when all the
hazmats are floating in the air.

And suspenders.

An extra pair of suspenders to hold your pants up.
