Due to rule changes we only get TWO HOURS to can our order, so that will limit how much we can do. However, they will have plenty of pre-packaged flour, red wheat, white wheat, oats, and pinto beans.

Rules:
1. Email me your completed order sheet by 7pm, Monday June 20th so I can compile the order. Send to merriwetheradventurer@yahoo.com
2. Long pants must be worn for safety.
3. Closed-toe footware must be worn for safety.
4. No jewelry can be worn, again a safety measure.
5. No children under 18 years of age are allowed in the cannery.
6. No spaghetti in cans.
7. Those of you on weighing duty - aim to fill the cans to about 1/4" from the top rather than being exactly at the right weight. This actually will give us a bit more food and the lady in charge prefers doing it that way for increased speed.

Due to the new time limits we need to hit the ground running. We all pretty much know how it works, so that shouldn't be a problem.

OK - so how did it go?
Do you know if there is a cannery in Austin?

It went excellently. We only had seven people show up, normally we have 12-14. I'm not sure how much food we canned but we went through almost a full pallet of cans. It was about half regulars and half newbies, but everyone bonded well and had a great time. Fantastic preparedness discussions, too.

Interesting sidenote: The Houston cannery had already exceeded it's 2011 total projected canning by May 23rd. People are really stocking up on food.
