Potential for 3 Major Snow Storms in the next 2 weeks for New York area.

With a 'monster' snow storm predicted for the 19th January.

Looks like I may not make my January 22nd trip to Long Island. I am going to drive into another blizzard.

Meteorologists really can't predict weather very well two weeks ahead. They're lucky to get the next three days right. Or almost right.

They can usually get sunrise and sunset times correct...

That's because it is based upon a precise(?) mathematical equation developed by Astronomers. Metereology has way to many variables.

Actually, at least in my neck of the woods, the forecast is pretty darn accurate. When there is a variance, it is usually about the timing of the event, not its nature or severity.

There has been an enormous improvement in weather forecasting over my lifetime...
