Just heard of a 7.9 quake referenced on Little Sitkin Island - way out on the Aleutian arc. Any word from our Alaskans?

Apparently it was a significant quake, but located way out west in the Aleutians, and very deep (~62 miles deep). The National Tsunami Warning Center initially issued a "Warning" for the Western Aleutians, but this was later downgraged to an "Advisory" with significant wave heights less than one foot.

EDIT: A bit more info in this story: Tsunami warning reduced to advisory after 8.0 quake in Western Aleutians

There was z 6.0 aftershock an hour later, and a 6.9 just a little while ago, a little ways away from the initial epicenter. Also a series of strong 6.0+ quakes around New Zealand this morning.

It appears there are also a rash of volcanoes going active now as well. A few up here, a couple in west-central South America, and Mauna Loa appears to be awakening. All this geologic activity at once, and right at the solar peak, makes one consider cause and effect perhaps?
