I'm seeing news reports of waves of tornado-spawning storms hitting the U.S. Midwest. A lot of destruction, and some fatalities.

Is this normal, seasonal stuff? Or are these unusually bad?

Hope everyone stays safe.

Yeah, such tornadoes are a bit unusual around this time of the year. I was really surprised today when my weather radio alarm went off.

It has been quite warm in the Midwest this year. Allergens are already flying about. I'd hate to think what's to come.

some places took hard hits but because of the storms and deaths last year people heeded the warnings and found shelter sooner than in the past, that was per a radio interview.
it is sort of early for these big storms.

seems quite early for tornado season this year.
the warm/cold air boundary is moving up the USA (northwards) quite early.

Judging by the damage to the 2 towns in Indiana, those were very powerful tornadoes. Does anyone know if they have been classified as F4 or F5? Looks like semi-trucks were picked up and thrown around. With that kind of wind speed, and whole towns gone completely, I am wondering if those were F5 tornadoes.
