I'm spending the three-day storm taking turns shoveling and drinking hot chocolate (fortified with Irish whiskey).

My pit bull, Zsa Zsa, can't quite figure out where she's supposed to poop, her 'spot' covered in 18 inches of snow.

Update: I shoveled out Zsa Zsa's poop/wizz spot. She was totally flummoxed what all that crazy white stuff was.

Success! A poop and a wizz. At least she didn't do it on the rug in the living room.

In the mean time, I got one of our cars out. At least until the city came along and plowed us in again. Our other car out back in the alley is probably in for the duration.

Anybody else have a story?

Sorry about your trials and tribulations. Friends' businesses are closed until at least tomorrow. Glad I live in mostly sunny AZ. Not sorry. grin

No problem. I'll just drink some more 'hot chocolate' fortified with Tullamore Dew.

Their informal advertising slogan: "The morning dew from the nipples of angels."

My wife thinks I drink too much. I think I shovel snow too much.

Having somewhat recently retired to the Wisconsin northwoods, last winter I was somewhat overwhelmed and constantly worried about if I could handle the next big snow.

So, this past fall I purchased a snowblower for my compact tractor that can clear a path 5 feet wide and 2 feet deep. Sadly, so far I've only used it twice, each time to remove just 3 inches.

This Friday we're predicted to get 8 inches. Yay! Unfortunately, Saturday's high will be 4°F. Ugh!

Not much here, school closed for a couple days.
I moved from WV to Columbus Ohio in 1991, sometime that winter (1991-1992) we got hit with a big snow storm. I worked part time in the evenings/night at a grocery store and could see the snow starting to come down. It was heavy enough you couldn't see the first row of cars in the parking lot, visibility was pretty poor. Finally got off my shift around midnight and left for my apartment. Main road went up over the highway then down the other side and then there was an intersection with off and on ramps. When I topped the hill I was the light was blinking red and there was a police officer directing traffic. There were a couple cars ahead of me and I saw him stop all other traffic and motion them to go so they could slide through the intersection as safely as possible.
I pulled my 4x4 lever, got in the left turn lane and downshifted gently through the gears and came to a stop. I saw him let out a little laugh and signal me to make the turn and continue. I guess he assumed I'd slide straight through like all the city folk, he didn't expect me to be able actually stop.
The drive the rest of the way was pretty uneventful, the 270 outerbelt was still 55mph and had few lights and little traffic. The snow was deep enough you couldn't tell where the road ended and grass started. Would just go slow and if the right side sunk I knew I had wend off the road so I would just steer left. Probably took twice as long as usual.

Went in Sunday night, because I knew I wouldn't be able to get in Monday morning, and knew that we'd be short-handed (it's a residential school for Autism spectrum teens). Brought pizza with me. Kids were happy to see me, since I'm "not" a "teacher" and I brought pizza and will play Monopoly with them. Finally went home Tuesday evening--still flurrying. This morning the kids wanted to know when I could do it again. Tonight, AuntGoo wanted to know, too. Hmmm...

Well, I spent part of the day cleaning and organizing the kitchen cupboard stacked with mismatched Tupperware.....and cleaned off the top of the fridge....

Long winters here....does that count as prepping?
