We did a family hike with our BOB's today. It's a hot and muggy day and the suck factor could have been high, but we made sure to make a detour for a little treat along the way to keep it fun.

Awesome!! Freeze Pops are amazing at squelching insurrections among the miniature units of the species.

Fifty cents for fruity sugary ice. Can't beat it on a sweaty day.

Hot and humid in Canada ???

What can I say then about our frying pan ?? LOL

On the +ve side, it is always great to see families having quality times in the outdoors.

Make sure you have enough contingency preps for the young one. Anything like a mosquito bite could ruin the outing. Also, depending on your area's wildlife, please do not role out completely the off chance of facing some nasty critter, and you won't be able to outrun it with the baby.

Being a paranoid dad, I prep for outings and trips by adding up plusses and minusses. I always add one minus for every dependent person (too young, too old , too sick ..etc. ) and one plus for every "capable" person. Too many minuses, I start thinking of other plans.

My 2¢

LOL@Chisel! Right?! Safety first is my number one rule, and prevention is the best cure, but it's easy to get wrapped up in details and forget why you're trying to get out there in the first place.

And, yup, it wasn't really that hot. It was just the first nice summery day we've had in months. It was about 25C, feeling a bit warmer with humidity. I'm a simple Canadian girl and actually prefer the cold, especially when I go out with my kids.
