Been watching alot of vids on survival tips and techniques, bushcraft, etc. Working graveyards with alot of downtime will do that to you. So many vids out there, thousands, are just junk. What's your favorite place to watch?

I've been watching the Journal of the Yurt series by Dave Canterbury. There are a few nuggets of information in there that are interesting but some of the vids I just passed on.
Journal of the Yurt
It has to do more with long term outdoor living than a 72-hour short term survival. This supposedly was filmed in the winter, yet there is never more than a skiff of snow on the ground! It was also the first time I've seen Dave with the heavy beard (apparently he was prepping to be Santa Claus for the grandkids.)

I still wonder why Dave seems to have just dropped the SAN stuff. I liked they way they documented how people of varying levels of skill responded to various situations.

Les Stroud has posted two "Stranded" films on youtube that I assume were "proof of concept" for Survivorman, so they are like bonus episodes.

The Ray Mears shows are interesting - I like how he usually works some type of history into things. Ferinstance, I just watched one about the jewish Partisans in Belarus during WWII. I had often wondered why no one "bugged out" under Nazi persecution. Seems some did. They didn't exactly live off the land, though - they relied on food from friendly farmers and stolen from German supply lines.

As for all the rest on youtube, its hit and miss.

YouTube rocks!

Canterbury and Wilderness Outfitters are two of our favourites as well. We just started watching the SAN videos again last night. All good choices for your watch list.

Check out sargefaria's channel. He's one of Dave's instructors and has some very good videos of his own. MegaWoodswalker and reallybigmonkey are two of my other most frequented channels.

My 9 year old's favorite channel is BraveTheWilds. Kenny is a 16 year so fires my son's imagination. He's also a Canterbury protege so the content is quite sound.
