Well, the holidays have come and gone, at least here in the US. I thought I would share a list of the new preparedness "stuff" that the holiday aftermath has brought into my family's survival coffers. Nothing really fancy or earth shattering here. I want to know what everyone else has acquired too. Here are my lists:

WHAT DS GOT
- cyclops brand (I think) headlamp (looks a lot like the eq headlamps)
WHAT DW GOT
- See below
WHAT I GOT
- gerber folder (not sure which model it is)
- coleman brand headlamp and led flashlight
- energizer brand crank led flashlight (seems really sturdy but time will tell)
- tiny swisstech pliers for keychain (riding in my pocket now)
- merrino wool blend long john top and bottoms (wearing both right now)
WHAT EVERYONE GOT
- a new doug ritter eq headlamp
- wet ones
- bottles of hand sanitizer, lotion, and assorted lip balm
- emergency candles
- emergency poncho

OK now you know what we got. Like I said nothing exciting or earth shattering. Now tell me what you got. I gotta know. laugh

A friend gave me a BIG RAMBO LOOKING "survival knife". eek
It's one of those big black made-in-China knives with the hollow compartment in the handle... screw off the bottom cap to reveal a compass, and a plastic container with some matches and a few other nick-nacks.

I don't know what to do with this thing.(?)
I hate to throw away a knife, even if it's junk... I bet it's not worth much on EBAY ...
maybe I should just use it around the house as a "cheap machete" or a garden digging tool, until it breaks or rusts away.

I know what you mean Lon, I can't bring myself to throw out a knife either, no matter how crappy it is. You could post it on the swapping thread and see what you can trade it for smile . Or keep it like you said and use it for things that are too abusive to put your better blades through. I used a spec plus marine raider bowie to dig into rock laden dirt to put up some halloween/christmas decorations in the yard this year. You can always find a use like that for a less than stellar blade you received as a gift.

Nice bivy MoBOB. That's the insulated AMK bivy, isn't it? That would sure come in handy right now with all the wintery weather going on. Or a nice addition to a car kit. Or a nice addition to a winter BOB. Or ... ah the possibilities.

Anyone else want to share? *craning my neck trying to get a peek at your stash* Even a gift to yourself. I'm waiting to hear what you got laugh .
