What is the difference between the red bottle of HEET alcohol stuff to add to your gasoline, and the yellow bottle?

My main interest is for things like the Pepsi can stoves. Is one better than the other?

Only one of them is methyl alcohol, the yellow one.
The red one (isoheet) is isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) and it burns sooty if it burns at all. Often it has so much water in it that it won't even light.

I don't buy it that way anyhow, gas line antifreeze is expensive.

It is a lot cheaper to buy methyl alcohol as fondue fuel or in the hardware store where it is sold with the paint thinners. It is used for thinning shellac.

Okay, thanks!

I just want a small, sturdy, labeled bottle to carry in my work bag, one that isn't likely to leak. Yellow it is.

For home, I buy the cans of denatured alcohol. Then I know what I'm getting.

Others have answered the difference question, so I'll ask why not a pint bottle of Everclear? Its 190 proof (95% alcohol), consumable which translated means if used for sanitizing is not poison. If its legal in your state that is.

Read the ingredients, I think it's the other way around. Be careful with the methyl stuff, can get fairly nasty on the skin from what I've heard.

Everclear is available here. About $10-12 or so for a pint. About $2.50 for a pint of Heet.

I can't even stand to drink beer, so buying it for multiple purposes seems useless... and expensive.

And when applied in a certain way, it will blow up a small japanese manufactured PU truck, throwing the 6' tall occupant out/through the back window to land 20 ft away.

It burns hot enough to give 3rd degree burns over 95% of the body (minus the armpits and crotch) so that the skin falls off.

Drinking 8 bottles of Everclear is much better method of suicide versus using Everclear as an explosive.

Of course, that's just my opinion based upon one experience!

BTW: This type of explosive sounds like a mortar,,,,,whump!
