US Airline Carry-On Regulations are generally as follows:
You are permitted 1 Carry-On Item, and one "personal item" - typically a purse. A suit bag is permissible on some airlines IF there's room, otherwise, it will need to be checked bags. see this link: http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/carry_on_restrictions.html
