I'm looking for a tactical shirt or safari-type jacket for wearing over a T-shirt now that the weather has brightened up. Long-sleeve or short-sleeve. Something not too pricey would be appreciated. Any suggestions?

Craig--

Take a look at the 5.11 Tactical series (web page). They were originally designed & marketed by Royal Robbins, but apparently have been spun off as a separate company.

Their product line has pants, shorts, vests, shirts, & polo shirts, and maybe more, available. Their stuff is great.

Not exactly a "safari" jacket, but I spend a lot of time wearing a plain old BDU jacket. It doesn't all of the bells and whistles of a full blown safari jacket, but it does have four big pockets, and is baggy enough to pretty much cover up whatever I happen to be carrying. You don't have to have camo either, they come it all kinds of colors, including tan, which is kindasorta safari looking...

Camo would stand out around here like a sore thumb. Tan or khaki color would be just fine.

NY Rat--

No, I don't have a vest--yet. I have the pants, and really like them. One of the best things about the line is that they accomodate big & tall guys--since I'm both, I'm very happy with their offerings. I need a XXXL vest, and they have it! I have a birthday soon; maybe I'll suggest it. <img src="images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

While this is far from the not-to-pricey category, you may want to take a look at the Filson Bush jacket.

Their goods are without question some of the best made garments available. I have on of these and while I do not wear it much, it is indeed a super light cover. I have found every item I have from them to be worth the cost.

Actually, it seems like I see someone, either sex, wearing camo just about everywhere. Personally I hate the stuff, almost ever wear the little bit I have ('cept the three color desert, I can live with that)...
