One has to wonder what,if anything, is special about this ammo that makes it suitable for drones? low recoil?

I have never hunted drones before. I assume I need a hunting license with a drone stamp. Bag Limits? Number in possession? Can I get a nice specimen mounted?

Amazon drones will carry their own prizes. Kind of like pinatas...

In the UK it is illegal to shoot at ANY airborne vehicle including drones. I suspect it is the same across the US. I wonder if defensive barrage balloons would be classed as illegal.

What some people will do to make a sale. Anyway SG would be cheaper and in any case I don't have a recipe for a drone so I would not kill one.

It would be treated exactly the same as shooting at an airliner and they would probably try some terrorism charges as well it the drone was any way official.

Having said that, planes landing at Heathrow are fairly often found to have crossbow bolts in the wings.

How about drones killing drones? If I considered drones a real threat, I would certainly have a complement of anti-drone drones to take them out.

Or maybe some RC airplanes,

Or maybe a kite...kites can be deadly too.

Hmm, looks to me like this could escalate relatively quickly.

Just sayin'

It is definitely not always illegal to shoot at an unmanned drone in every jurisdiction within the USA. For example, recently I saw a video where a man had his friends fly drones while he and others shot at them with a variety of weapons. There was a whole lot of room around him, so he wasn't endangering anyone or anyone's property other than the willing participants.

With regard to the recent case in Kentucky, I'm not a lawyer and I don't play one on the Internet. I have read some serious legal scholarship by actual lawyers who think the shooter may well have been within his rights. It hasn't come up in any classes I've taught but I would advise my students to not shoot at drones outside of some very unlikely corner cases.

100 years ago in my first year law school, in our "property" class we discussed, the traditional property law of "you owned everything above your property to the heavens" as modified by commercial aviation. At what altitude, did a property owners rights end. So, nations do not have "property rights" to deny satellites flying over their territory (as long as they are in "space") and individual property owners do not have the right to deny aircraft the right to fly over their property, again, usually assuming some minimum altitude.

Drones are requiring new laws to be made. I can deny a 6 foot person from my property under "trespass" law. Can I deny a drone flying at 6 feet? It does not seem to be clear. . .

I would take the directed EW Jammer/spoofing approach using directional YAGI antenna.

Anti Drone Guided Missiles would be a little more difficult to develop but not impossible using generic WiFi wireless control.

Gun fire using shot guns against high speed drones isn't very effective
Auchterhouse Country Sports nearby used to hold drone shooting events launching their own RC drones.. A Bren Gun mount will be more effective if a Bren gun was available.

Night time Drone and black Helicopter detection using a P8079HP tube and some C mount CCTV lenses can be made quiet cheaply.

Here I'm on firmer ground with regard to the law: In the USA, you really must not do that.
