Looking for a durable, non-leather, zippered, 3 ring binder. You know, for emergency contact info, primary documents, thumb drives, etc. I really like the Rite in the Rain Maxi Planner, but not the price. Without the paper, its still around 80 bucks.

Durable is the key word here. I know you can get the generic, zippered binders at Walmart for 10 bucks, but the zippers look very cheaply made. Thanks.

I'm using this one
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001FS5PJ2

it was a little expensive but I had trouble finding a zipper binder in legal size. The company makes it in letter size as well. The paper organizer part is a little thin, the rings are less than 1" IIRC but the pockets on the left work well for my backup drives.

I keep all the joint documents in the three ring part then in the left side I keep 4 individual report covers with personal documents, one for each family member so the wider legal size binder works well for holding the 4 smallwr covers. I did this so if I need one of my kids papers I can just pull out their info and leave the rest in the safe, lessons the risk than having everything out at once.

Day Planner makes Cordura 3 and 5 ring planners. Are they waterproof? Well no, not with that zipper, but I've dragged one around for 20 years in my pack as my 'brain' (before my iPhone). I've sprayed the exterior with Nikwax and no problem.
