A 10 year sentence mostly because he tried running.

That was a good article.

However, I'm now wondering should I ever disappear if they'll see that I read that article and conclude that I'm in hiding. laugh

Good read.

Try reading The Partner by John Grisham. The main character executed a well thought out plan to disappear and took off with 90 million in the process. I actually found myself appreciating the effort it took to pull off his scheme.

I am not sure how much the dollars mattered Garlydog. I read in the news all the time about people who embezzled far more than that getting off with time served and/or parole as long as they show regret and promise restitution.
I think his big crime here was thinking he could evade the justice system, seconded by the insurance fraud.
Insurance frauds usually get punished heavily too, much more heavily than somebody abusing an expense account.
As the article noted, insurance fraud investigators will pursue you like the hounds of hell.
