Found these today at an Arts & Crafts store, each $2.99. Various colors.

So far, I've painted an orange stripe on my Fenix, my Griptilian, and an OD plastic container on my daypack. Dries quick, not Blaze Orange, but a good contrast. Easily bright enough to see if you drop something around a campsite.

Various dealers on-line have differing prices.

Good idea. Couldn't hurt.

Orange is good but even day-glow orange can look a lot like brown when the light gets dim. Red is notorious for looking like brown. Which is why a lot of the old hunting rules about wearing red have been changed to bright orange.

Some experts claim that blue shows up particularly well in nature. Not many blue things out in the woods. But I remember a few flowers and blue might look like black in dim light.

I'm not sure there is a perfect color.

i was thinking maybe silver? or *shudder* bright pink, neon green. I don't know i would have to see how bright they actually turn out. but that is a good idea to mark stuff i'm temepted to use it to mark the handles of my silverware.

"...blue shows up particularly well.."

Many years ago I read an article in a gun magazine, guy was a shooter and photographer, complete with darkroom. He got a bunch of cards in different colors, and a bunch of different people. Using his enlarger, he could regulate the time and intensity of the light hitting the colored cards. Long story kindasorta short, the color them most people could recognize fastest with the least amount of light was blue. I was working a lot of graveyard shift back then, I tried it by painting the front sight of my S&W Mod 28 baby blue instead of red and it seemed to work. At least for me...
