I found this interesting. Ex paratrooper is walking around the world. I have not read it all yet. Quite a story so far.

http://www.earthtrekuk.net/Intro.htm

What do they mean by "non-stop"? How does this differ from the other people who've walked around the world?

That has already been done, kindasorta. Read 'Worldwalk' by Steven M. Newman, in about 1983. His trip started out as a backpacking/survival/live off the land kind of thing, but that only lasted a couple of days. Did the entire trip mainly living and eating with locals who gave him food, shelter, etc. It was still interesting readying tho. His closest brush with death, surprisingly, was in Australia...

Isn't that impossible wouldn't he have to take a boat or plane across water?

Sometimes people undertake collosal challenges and wind up with heroic achievements, and sometimes it's just stupid. Am I totally jaded, or does this fall into the category of "who really cares anyway?" I mean, this guy is not exactly going to become the next Charles Lindburg. He'll be lucky to become a footnote in the Guiness Book of World Records.

No offense to you Nomad, I'm just wondering why this guy wants to dedicate a big chunk of his life doing such a thing.

Hmmm... Why people climb the mountains? Why do we hike? Why do we jump out of airplanes? Some do it for the hell of it, others like the rush and others have simply nothign better to do with their time. I agree with you my man on what you said. It is a collosal task but kind of pointless. But I have no right to criticize the guy. It's his life and his quest. Sometimes I just wish to have balls and quit work put my life on hold and go traveling for a year or two instead of doing it two-three weeks at the time.
