Just thought I'd share.
I was playing with my firelighting gear and got an idea
I put a very tiny piece off of a PJ bal around a candlewick and hit it with a spark from my ferro rod... Presto ! Candle lit ! Tried again with a very small piece of regular plain 100% cottonbal, but this burns too fast to light the wick.
This is solved by scraping a tiny bit of wax from the candle with your fingernail and putting that on/in the dry cotton that is now on the wick. Works like a charm everytime !
I think lint from your pockets or scraped from clothing would also work.
Haven't tried yet but I assume very fine natural tinder (i.e. cattail down} would work also. Just don't forget to scrape a bit of wax on it.
