I've been looking for a cheaper (but functional) substitute for the pricey British tins for a survival kit container. My spec was for something that would fit in one half of my Tactical Tailor med bag (which I use for my wilderness E & E bag), stainless, hold my small items and function as a water boiling/cooking vessel. I think I found it at $3.50!!
SS Rice / Lunch Box
These are used for lunches (rice portion as I understand) in Asia. I got one of the small ones and it fits and works perfectly! It doesn't have a rubber seal in the lid but that's not an issue for me since all my kit is waterproofed. You could add a seal pretty simply if needed. BTW, the med bag combo is ideal, IMHO, for a belt based, wilderness PSK or E & E. At under 3 lbs. includes all essentials including shelter and food for 3 days - indefinitely with fishing, trapping gear in it and addition of my long gun and ammo. I'm a happy camper! <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
