Rather than risk a thread hijacking, I thought I'd reply to Blake's question about his trip plan and how to improve it by starting a new thread.

One suggestion: consider adding footprints to your plan. A description of footwear (make, model, size) and also an actual cast of them, even if only a print on a piece of aluminum foil. (Thank you Scouts Canada for the idea!) I don't do this for every hike or trip but think it's a good idea when for back-country trips.
