Although the jug knot is fun, a constrictor knot will also work and is more versatile.

Constrictor is one of the 6 or so knots everyone should know; Jug isn't. In my opinion.

if you consider it takes longer to tie, its harder to untie and does not readily result in a loop more versatile for carrying a bottle, then I agree.

Although I appreciate the time you took to make the video, and don't want to debate issues which are partly judgement calls, I have to say that Constrictor doesn't take longer to tie. Here's a page of fast methods:

and here's a video and animation:

It can be slower if you don't have access to the end of the thing you are tying it to, because then you need to thread through the end of the cord. With a bottle, you do have that access, so you can tie it the bight, and then put that over the head of the bottle. Then it's just cross the cord to make a loop, pull the top of the loop down and twist to make 2 loops, and fold them both back. It's barely slower than a clove hitch. Try it - as someone who enjoys knots I'm sure you'll like it, even if you prefer the jug knot for bottles.
