I don't think that the drive-on treads are functional. The video shows an SUV driving onto the tracks, but the tracked vehicles actually driving are car bodies attached to the tracks.

Still, this would be a heck of a weekend project to undertake. I wonder, if I leave the lights functioning, would this be street legal?

With a low center of gravity, this would be fun to take rockcrawling.

I dunno. It seemed to me that you had to drive the car on, then somehow lever the car onto a stand and pop the tires off, and then re-connect everything to the treads.

I'm curious though how they steer, reverse, etc. Obviously it's been done. Too many ruples and time for me though!

it seemed to me that they had working prototypes with cars welded on, and then they were working on the next generation which was far from functional. It appears to me that you would have to spend a lot of time "converting" your car to use the treads. More than a couple of hours for sure.

I'm guessing that you have to disconnect the drive train of the car and attach it to the tread assembly, and there are problems there that they are currently wrestling with. its one thing to make it a permanent change, and another to make it "temporary".

The chevy they used was simply for a bit of glamour, it being an imported car and all...

Its fun looking...
