This is still very much a work in progress. This started as just a place to put the stuff that I used to carry in a laptop case when I carried my computer everywhere. I carry this with me when I leave the neighborhood - ie, any time I drive somewhere. At work it stays in my office.

To start with, I use my old Eddie Bauer daypack. It has held up well over the years.


The lower back pouch is my 'tools' area.

I made this tube from simple PVC and some end caps. I'll redo it sometime with clear tubing to look less threatening. Cotton balls in the ends keep things from rattling. It holds a Whia precision screwdriver/torx set.

Hole saw and blade

Home depot sells this for about $15. It holds full size hacksaw blades as well as sawzall type blades.
I keep a metal, wood, and combination blade with a piece of cardboard folded around the edges.
I replace the screw that came with the handle with a wing nut to make for easier blade changes.

Sewing kit started life as an Backpackers Sewing kit from Adventure Medical and has been expanded.

The first aid kit is weak. It started life as a cheap kit from wally world and I ended up ditching most of the contents because they were crap and replaced them with decent stuff. I plan on getting better a better kit in the near future. One of the nalgene bottles is usually in the pack, the other (narrow mouth) I keep out and filled. I like to stay hydrated during Phoenix summers. I keep a full change of clothes (including shoes) at work and another in my car.

What's the pipe bomb for?... kidding Looks like a nice pack setup.

I like the hole saw handle. I have spend a large portion of my life in hardware stores, and have never seen one of those before!!!

I have one almost like it (maybe exactly like it) and the one i have is made by stanly. I like the idea of putting a wing nut on it! Never thought of that!!! Nice one.

Wing nuts, and thumb screws can be very handy for all kinds of things...

I just wish there was a more compact version of that saw.

If i had any skills with metal fabrication, i'd give it a shot. But I don't and don't wanna try - my luck i'd end up in the hospital. I always do! LOL

haha, whenever i try to make something, it never turns out right!! But I've never gotten hurt making something, however I have gotten hurt looking at one of my little brother's creations!

I have a Palm Treo also--where did you get that charger? Obviously a great thing to have in an emergency. Have you tried the "Fuel Cell" that mytreo.net has for sale? It's pricey, so I'm wondering if it's worth it.

I picked up the Treo charger at my local Fry's (Kroger) grocery store. Look in the battery area. They have them for many different cell phones, so you have to sort through them.
