Military gear reviews

Soldiers over in the sandbox are using Glad Press and Seal to keep the sand out of their computers even while in use.

Neat.

Probably not a bad idea, but I'd think sucking sand/dust into the cooling ports would be a bigger problem. I know using my laptop at the ranch and at horse shows has caused it to overheat and shut down. A few shots from a can of compressed air fixed that problem.

I might have to try the keyboard thing, though I do feel some warmth on my keybard right now.

I've used glad press n seal as a diffuser on a few flashlights and it works pretty well. The only problem is that if you leave it on more than a day, it leaves a residue which isn't the easiest thing to remove. Glad my lenses were glass. I'm not too sure, but even using new sheets every time, I'd think the adhesive would build up and make the equipment a dirt magnet.

We use it to cover DD1's keyboard to keep drool off of her keyboard when her PCA's (Personal Care Attendant) watches TV too intently and misses a glob prior to drip off.

We also use it as a barrier for her mouth stick electronics package.

Thanks for the tip Blast,

Not a bad idea for the computer though I wouldn't recommend it for Excedrin that computer use often requires.

(insert image of banging head on desk here).

I just repacked my backpacking FAK and discovered that my idea of using press-n-seal to package OTC meds didn't work as well as imagined.

I was packing individual doses in the press-n-seal with the idea of not losing the whole lot due to water/butter fingers/etc.

It was a pain in the glutes to get the meds un-packaged from the press-n-seal so I repacked all the OTC meds in my little "crack baggies" from Hobby Lobby.
