My Garmin GPS has a hole for a screw in the back that originally was used to secure it in it's packaging. I want to get a screw for it that has a loop in the head portion so I can tie cord to it. What is the name of the type screw that has a loop for this purpose? Thanks.

Are you sure there isn't a lanyard hole on the edge of the case you can use? Mine has - I put a loop of thin code through it, which I then attach to a parachord lanyard when I need one.

My Magellan has a threaded hole in the back of it also. It is used for screwing in a variety of attachments. Never thought of using it to mount it to stuff. Excellent idea!

A GPSMap 60. It has the threaded hole as well, which takes an attachment point for the belt-clip, the car mounts and the bicycle mount (all avaIlable from Garmin). The attachment point is a short, stubby grooved rod. If you have that, you could probably tie a thin lanyard to it directly, eg with a constrictor knot.

Good idea. That is probably the best way to go. All garmins can take the belt clip I imagine.
