The key fob to which I'm referring may be seen here: Paracord Key Fob

Very cool, but how would I do this myself?

I have tried several times and it still looks like an elementary school show-and-tell project! Any suggestions would be welcome.

That's a crown knot sennet(sp?) Check macrame sites and you should find it no sweat. You can make the fob as long as you want. It's pretty handy on keys, knives etc.

Various forms of knotted paracord accessories have been discussed in this forum many times. From key-fobs to belts to knife wrapps. Simply put the search criteria to all posts all dates and enter paracord knott and criteria and you will get more info than you can digest in a day. There is a very detailed refernce on making just that fob in there somewhere.

Thanks man. Even a Google God like me was unable to find that gem of a page.

After spending many long and fruitless hours trying to follow knot diagrams I succeeded only in giving myself a headache.
Thus comming to the conclusion I will never have a paracord keyfob, let alone a belt, I looked for alternatives.
The best and easiest I found is to wrap the cord around an old store/credit card. Cutting little notches at either end helps to hold the cord in place.
Result: 8 metres of cord that occupies a space in my wallet only a little bigger than a credit card tool.
Whilst I may lose out on the fashion stakes I believe its a good a system as any.

You could always buy one from the web site I mentioned earlier. They are not expensive.

Martin, You may want to find a Boy Scout, Girl Scout or Girl Guide and ask them if they have made a whistle lanyard or key fob with gimp. If so, have them show you how to start the lanyard, the same methods used with the gimp will work to create a paracord key fob. Pete

Thanks for your advice guys, I'll probably try again at a later date.
Pete if I started acosting boy scouts or girl guides to ask them about gimps and knots I'd be thrown in jail with no hope of parole!
It all make me feel rather foolish...
