I've finally decided to switch from my trusty Potable Aqua tablets to a water filter as the primary water purifier for my backpacking trips. But now which one? Its primary use will be for three season, 3-5 night trips, and it will occupy the kit in my jeep the rest of the time. I have tentatively narrowed my choices to the MSR Mini Works and the Sweetwater Guardian and was wondering if anyone has any opinions on either of these. Also, if I'm overlooking a filter that I should consider, Please let me know.

Pre-Mac MWP Water Purifier Pump. Its highly recomended in UK, but im not sure if its avalable in the US. I havent tryed it so I wouldnt know

I've used the PUR Hiker model to good effect in the application you describe. I also wonder if you've tried Aqua Mira? It should work just as well as Potable Aqua or Polar Pure, but it has no offensive taste.

I've used all the tools I mentioned, and the Aqua Mira is the most compact, best tasting solution given that you have fairly clear water to start with.
