I've been field testing some radios - am/fm receivers mostly, with either crank, solar or both. What do you look for in a radio?

if I were to choose only one radio, it would have NOAA SAME selective county alert warning functions, receive AM/FM (probably with telescoping antenna) and work on both 120v and AA battery power...additionally be as rugged as possible...I have two weather radios, a Reecom and Midland that are powered this way...I like the Reecom in that it audibly repeats the warning... I am about 50 miles from the NOAA repeater antenna in Riverview, Fla and get very good reception

I have the "old standard" Grundig FR200, with dynamo crank, that is at least 20 years old... I've replaced the NiMH storage cells for the dynamo, and it works every time... AM/FM and two "short wave" bands

the Tampa Bay area has several Doppler equipped TV stations plus a NWS radar at Ruskin that give real time visual tornado warnings, and show the exact location of the hook echo... after the 2004 hurricane season and TV format change, a portable digital TV was added to my hurricane electronics... along with a old style rabbit ear antenna... plus a section of cable that allows me to reach my chair and still plug into the cable outlet if it is still up... it is 120v and 12v capable, and is my go to source for real time localized information

A radio such as the CommmRadio CR-1a

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3nnZsGMYn0

but with the ability to have a graphical User interface console such as a simplified SDR GUI like SDR-Radio.com if additional battery power wasn't a problem for finding.tuning/demodulation radio broadcasts.

Getting FM radio on my A8 phone isn't a problem (even has rather good performance).
There are also Digital Radio stations via DVB-T broadcasts (Radio and TV) which can be listened to on the phone using the Tivizen App

A commercial version of this would be ideal with an Android SDR App.

One of my small Eton radios is crank or dc only no option for batteries, which I would have liked.
