there was another story along the same lines about a family and it crossed my mind that if you could make it with a candy bar and a bottle of water think about how well you would come out of it with just some the items we talk about here.

It depends on the circumstances at case per case. If the girl was stranded in the heat of August, I wouldn't expect the same outcome. A few decades ago, when I was young and foolish , my brother and I were traveling through a bad sandstorm and the car broke down. My brother picked a ride and went for help. When I was waiting for him under the summer sun, I thought of drinking the radiator water which was full of brown rust. Being brown and hot, it really looked like coffee. LOL . I didn't drink it and was lucky that I had only to wait 1-2 hours. But I doubt a person will survive for long in something like that

No problem, just thought you might want to read the comments in that thread. It's a (far too) common survival situation IMO. Wondering aimlessly in the desert SW can be life altering.
