Keep in mind, as pointed out in the 'Mike the Mad biologist' link, that there is nothing that says that diseases come one at a time. While your fighting off the swine flu your more vulnerable to MRSA, KPC, Chikungunya, or what have you.

If anyone needs me I will be showering in bleach and figuring out how I can live while triple wrapped in plastic bags.

With so much time, ink and attention being invested on one disease agent at a time, H1N1 presently and before that West Nile and Bird flu by turns, it is easy to forget we live in global petri dish full of hostile microbes. Microbes that grow, adapt, exchange genetic material, and evolve. Microbes that can come two or three at a time.

I always suspected there was a reason why so many people in hospitals were sick. They seem like good places to stay away from if you can.

Any over crowded space with restricted / mostly circulated air IMHO is a place to stay away from... like flying

Having had MRSA and a recent pancreatic infection that took one of the super antibitoics to cure (which left me a diabetic too), all I have to say is "Oh Joy"

Working in a hospital years ago a popular joke was: This would be a great place to work if it wasn't for all the sick people. It seems to me that your typical overcrowded ER would be ground zero for flu.





"That which does not kill you makes you stronger'. You should be 'leaping tall buildings in a single bound' any day now.

It is not strength that allows me to be patient with my suffering. I endure because I lack more attractive options.
