"Even when the river receded, Jeanne Schnepp remained caught. The river banks grew farther away as Schnepp sank, trapped between a 12-foot wall of rocks and a logjam she couldn't climb over.

With only two cans of Mountain Dew and a bottle of water, Schnepp shouted herself hoarse. The brush was a couple hundred yards from a concrete bridge. Clint Schnepp said his mother could see cars driving over it."

I wonder how much sooner she would have been found if she had a whistle.

Well now that's just terrible frown While on the river every life vest should have a whistle! Heck, they require that when on a PWC... the key or the vest must have a whistle.

I thought this was an interesting statement: "She's always out doing something that she probably shouldn't have been doing."

Not that a trip down the river should be something to stop a person, but the river was up. In any case, if she's doing things that are risky she and her family should make sure she is a little more prepared for something to go wrong.

I'm glad she's alive though.

I don't understand how you become dehydrated while stranded on a river?

People refuse to drink the water cuz it's "bad." Screw that. Most diarrhea is self limiting. Just poop in the side going away from you.

there's something here I just don't get. 12 feet of rubble stopping her? I'd think that the more crap was there, the easier it'd be to get out.

The article referred to it as a 'log jam', but other articles indicated that is was just a large amount of brush. Probably enough to keep her from escaping, too small to climb on.
