I would have been out earlier! note the comment that Leathermans might not be pocket carry in the UK.

I like his final comment the best : )

BTW it was a an outdoor Crown Green Bowling club not a 10 pin bowling club. The photo in the link is a bit misleading.

The Leatherman isn't legal because the blade on the Leatherman is locking and some blades are greater than 3 inches long. Even if David Leggat was carrying a Leatherman tool, the chances of him being stopped and searched by the Police is about zero in Aberdeen. Now if was in the habit of wearing a Burberry baseball hat and dressed like a NED then he might be stopped and searched. laugh

I presume that the silly sod had left his phone in his jacket?

You can legally carry a Leatherman Charge, TTi etc) in the U.K. provided that you have lawful excuse to do so. Religion, sport, tool of work etc.

You can carry about your person at at all times something like a Leatherman Juice XE6 which does not have locking blades without having to provide lawful excuse.

The female part of the lock tends to be external and is held in place by two screws. That is what I would go for first. Failing that I would whittle or saw a section out of the jamb.

Just as an aside: I had to extract a college's little girl from a bathroom. The "rescue" slot on the outside has its uses.

Mind you, I also perpetrated a small wind-up on my colleges by going round and using my leatherman to close and lock every stall in the toilets..... grin whistle

Bummer...well there are worse places to be trapped. At least he had water. I wonder about the feet thing though. Keeping your extremities warm is a priority (the feet)...but getting out is another big priority. Gaining attention could do it.

I wonder if you could clog the drains...turn on all the water and see if the flooding gets noticed. Although it would make your situation worse if nobody did notice.

Puzzle, puzzle. I'll have to ruminate on this awhile ;^).

I don't know about flooding the bathroom. It seems to fall into the same ballpark as burning down a forest. It gets attention, but do you really want to be there after you do it? Getting attention is important, but not if it means compromising your current situation. If someone noticed immediately, fine. You get let out and get billed for water damage. However if no one noticed, flooding the bathroom would make it much more difficult to survive for a few days.
