I know on this site we tend to focus more on the "micro" than the "macro" of disaster prep, and to focus on physical disruptive events rather than epidemics/pandemics ... and, quite understandably, we are also skeptical of how effective governmental response plans will prove to be. But I thought this summary of the draft US "National Response Framework" might be of interest to our members. (It's an offshoot of some prior discussions on the Flu Wiki Forum.) And no, you won't get cooties by visiting a website like Daily Kos, no matter what Bill O'Reilly says!

Personally, the more I read about what DHS is trying to do -- and in particular, how they've been ignoring/riding roughshod over people/agencies trying to make the response plan more-efficient and more-effective -- the more I feel I need to stash away even more stuff in my apartment. (And philip, I live in a 1-bedroom apartment in Manhattan ... I can't even store supplies in a car like you can!)
