I saw yesterday at Home Depot the 3 AAA LED Maglite for sale at $ 19.47 or something like that. They cost near $26 at Wal Mart. I did not see the 2AA LED at Home Depot.

HD near me also has LED conversions for the D lights. I thought I saw 3xAA lights, but they might have been 3xAAA.

Correction the one I saw was the 3AA, no 3AAA. My mistake. The ones I did not see were the 2AA in HD but I saw them in Wal Mart.

I was at Home Depot today and swung by the tool and other junk aisle. Well I looked at the flashlights, checked the big D cells and then I saw something wierd, a MINI-MAG 3AA LED flashlight, its long and awkward a bit, but its so cool. I looked at it and kept walking. Something brought me back and I picked it up. Turns out that this is the coolest light. I have an LED 2AA MINI-MAG and its good, but this is better than a D cell Maglite. THIS LIGHT ROCKS. It blows my old mini mags away by far. This one could mess someone up if they were hit with it to boot. For $20 its a steal.

Picked up a 2AA Mini-Mag LED at Wally World yesterday. I am impressed! Definitely worth every bit of the $23. Too bad there's no Home Depot nearby...

For under $5.00 the Niteize 3 LED upgrade for the 2AA MiniMag is a worth while and cost effective upgrade. With the following features:
Extends battery life up to 20 hours - Lasts four times longer than with an incandescent bulb!
Features three bright white L.E.D.s
Brilliant quality white light vs. yellow hue of an incandescent bulb
10 Year lamp life - 100,000 hours
of continuous use
Shock proof

I've modded a 2AA with both a NIteize and an MJLED and I find the MJLED to be far superior.

I impulse-purchased a LED conversion kit for the 3 D-Cell mag I've had on hand for years (DW calls it her "whacking stick" - I don't want to be on receiving end!). Anyway, I was quite taken aback by the change from the stock bulb. Installation was very easy, just unscrew and drop in. Light output is much whiter and more intense. I have no metrics for that, it is scrictly a qualatative measure from my perception.

While I'm sure that battery life is extended somewhat, I can't judge how much. Since we mostly use the light when out searching for DK (Dear Kitty) it does not receive enough use to drain the batteries.
