I found a forum discussion about Les Stroud's survival series.

Survivorman
This starts off with someone that thinks it's a scam, which Les resonds to.

A search reveals a few more threads about the series.

I know he posted here a few times about this series. It was supposed to be shown on the Discovery Science channel in the US, but I never saw it listed.

I wish I could find Les' series too. The accusations were rather amusing. Many years ago another canadian made a delightfull documentary about wolves. He filmed himself hiking with his camera gear on top of an allready full packload. It's a good thing the myth of killer wolf packs is just that. I think a testosterone pumped tree squirrel could have taken him down.Les is an honest gentleman and we enjoyed helping his efforts. Obviously, like all the other survival instructors He made millions and traded his rusty survival instructor truck in for an Aston Martin DB8 and is cruising Montreal <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I've seen most of the episodes of Survivorman - the guy clearly knows his stuff, but I can barely stand watching the show due to his "drama queen" intensity. I'm sure part of it is caused by the need to make the survival skills come across as critical, and part is just the side effect of doing a one hour monologue - but the overall outcome is quite grating.

I do like the format of the series - ie: a different climate/environment for each episode, rather than focusing on one specific skill each week. This allows for a holistic view of a complete scenario, with the skills used in context.

Anyways, if you can take the melodrama, I would recommend seeking out Survivorman - even to this old dog, Les taught a few new tricks...

I would like to find this series too. Anyone find a dvd ??? And after watching years of the Australian Crocodile Hunter with my daughter, I think I can survive most any melodrama.

Hey, maybe they could team up ?!
