Over the decades I’ve become near-fanatic about the weight and bulk of carry items. The larger and heavier, the less likely you’ll have it when you need it, period. It’s just too tempting to leave a kit (or anything else) behind “just this once” because it’s gotten too heavy, and you don’t really “think” you’ll need it.<br><br>I like the ACR, and it seems that I have three, though I don’t really remember buying that many.. I have an old ‘60s Cracker Jack whistle that is as loud or louder than the ACR, flatter, lighter, not as sturdy, but requires a lot less breath than any of the typical survival whistles- a factor that I think could be very important, but is seldom mentioned. I also have some similar toy whistles, with similar faults and virtues, that I got from Barry Schuchart at Blue Line Outfitters.<br><br><br><br><br>
