i'm in the same finational situation as you are pete, and i had probably the same doubts about the quality and funtionality of such a cheap knife, i was wrong, the mora knife offered by ray mears is an outstanding knife for the price. i've had mine for about 6 months and have stopped saving up for more expensive knife. the mora knife is, in my, opinion almost idealy suited to most bushcraft/survival tasks and has the added bonus that being so cheap you're not that bothered about damaging or losing it and so end up finding yourself using it for things that you wouldn't dare use use a more expensive knife for. i haven't managed to damage mine yet, which is surprising cos i'm a bit heavy handed at times but if i did i wouldn't be particularly upset cos for less than a tenner even i can afford to buy a new one every six months.
my advice would be to not worry about whether or not to buy one of these knifes, go out and buy two, you won't be dissapointed.
and just in case you're wondering, no i don't get a commision on sales!

take it easy

stuart
