Risk of a fireworks fatality are 1 in 615,488? I like those odds! Boom Camp? We don't need no stinkin' Boom Camp!Happy Independence Day everyone!! Sidenote: All safety precautions will be observed. The spectators will be half a block away, I'll be wearing safety glasses and my Nomex clothing, etc... Sidenote 2: To those of you who don't have the freedom to go completely nuts with explosives, gee, sucks to be you!

Nice Papa Blast!! And DD1 is such a cutie! Oh yeah, way to go on the booms. Your observation bunker is only half a block away? When are you planning on breaking out the real explosives?

rant mode on I guess they liked the odds to... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ks5X0N8M_o823 people were killed including 6 firefighters, 950 people were injured and 1250 people got homeless. Just a reminder that fireworks are dangerous and should be stored and used correctly... rant mode off Have fun with your firework

I just spent the last 10 days in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, I was like a kid in a candy store at all of the roadside fireworks stands! Here in VT all we are allowed are smoke bombs and sparklers Now where is the nearest sand pit... Happy Fourth Everyone!

Blast, Just look at those toys! I wish my DW was as cool as yours Hope you and yours have a good time this Independence Day (weather permitting). We're still trying to dry out up here in DFW. Can't wait to see those seismograph reports from the Houston area over the next few days. - Brian

Fireworks are like guns and knives, nothing dangerous in themselves its when they get in the hands of dangerous people. My neighbors shot fireworks last year and then next time I cleaned my gutters i think I must have found about half of what they shot off. I put them in the category of not responsible to have them since they could have burned my house down easily.

Happy ID4 anyone. Yes, fireworks ARE explosives and to be treated with respect...
... Just like about ANYTHING ELSE! But fireworks are more fun as a discipline primer! :-)

You're right, Blast, It sucks to be me!!
Happy ID4 to you and everybody else.
If you see and/or hear a big boom from the Colorado River today, it means I screwed up the 4.5mph current and hit the Guide Wall BAD wrong.
The same thing is true for tomorrow when I cross the Brazos River (4.5mph & speeding up). (I am glad that the LNG plant is still under construction!!
And yes, Your DD1 is a "cutie"

Independence day? Naw, It's my Mothers Birthday. Much more important......:)
P.s. When are you chap's going to give up this foolish experiment in "democracy" and get yourself a sensible system of government. Like Constitutional Monarchy? We would be quite happy to give you a few pointers and a couple of members of the royal family......

To try and bring the thread back to its original subject (me ), I am happy to report the evenings festivities went off without a hitch. The rain stopped about two hours before the party, only one cop showed up and he went away stuffed with bratwurst, potato salad, and half of a cheesecake, no injuries occurred, and the invasion of Texas by Oklahoma and Arkansas was easily stopped. Another successful neighborhood-bonding event! -Blast

Blast,
I was on my way home last night and caught the end of the Woodlands firewoks display as I passed. Then as I turned on to Rayford Rd, I got to take in the end of the "Blast Fest". What a spectacular display you provided for the neighborhood!!! Thanks again for the invite. See you soon.

This side of the pond: November 5th. Guy Fawkes night. Or should that be Guido Fawks? They showed a program last year in which they blew up a replica of the old Westminster Hall. Just to show what would have happened if he had had his slow match ready. Serious asprin time........... p.s My Sister tells me that the 5th is the only day of the year when I have a BIG grin on my face..... It's a man thing..... p.p.s. Just checked. It's on YouTube under "Recreation of Guy Fawks Plot."
