I just opened my PSK for re configuring. The foil I was carrying was regular and I had about 3 square feet of it. I tried folding 5 square feet of Reynolds Heavy Duty and took up almost the entire tobacco tin. What Gives?

Hi Don,

Don't know how thick your two foils are, but my guess is that the HD is thicker / and a bit harder to get pressed down (there may also be some air space issues in addition to the extra square feet added). Thus far, I've not added any to my EDC, and have some plastic oven bags instead.

Have you tried rolling it? There was some earlier discussion regarding oven bags / foil / rolling vs. folding etc. in a past thread.

Sorry, I've forgotten which forum, search them both. Perhaps someone else has a better recollection on this.

Regards,
Comanche7

The oven bag I already carry in the PSK is used primarily as a last ditch effort at Transpiration. I'm in thr process of adding a clear 3 mil 50 gallon bag to my Always carried gear. In addition Foil would be a great plus to my kit. I would ude it for making containers, pots, bowls, fishing lures, collecting rain water, fire proof base, and most importantly to collect dew from the desert changes in temperature.

As to the packing Doug must have some secret formula.

I love the 55 gallon drum liners. They are like a pocket sized sleeping bag/rainsuit/shade....etc.

I fold my HD foil into a largish rectangle the width of the long edge of the altoids tin then wrap it around the outside of the tin before further wrapping with paracord. My PSK is not opened often. Only for refreshing perishables.
