Like DLR stated in a recent post: "This has turned out to almost be a resume" or something close to that. I thought I had lost many of my earlier memories because I'm getting old. Here on the ETS Bulletin Boards, I am finding things that trigger memories that I haven't reviewed in beau coup years.

I've started copying many of my posted memories in a chronological file and I'm starting to be amazed at what it is turning into. I think I'm putting together something worthy of leaving to my DD1 and DD2, that they will consider valuable enough for them to keep, and to hand down to their children.

Perhaps I'm in LaLa land (with the blue Smurfs) for even bothering to do this, much less to share this idea with the board but as that one popular CBS Sunday Morning Show segment still says: "Everyone has a story" and this is allowing me to explore my lifelong ambition of writing.

I copy the memory(ies) down and get them in the right time slot, and then I go back and expand upon it and fill it out with more details as I find the time, here and there.

Perhaps this idea will interest some of you.

I kept asking my Mom to do that, as she lived in a lot of mining towns of the West (back when that's all Aspen was), but she never got around to it. And I'm really sorry about that.

I've been writing a Wordperfect document for my little girl for 9 years now. It goes through my life relatively fast, but then it goes on to hit highlights in hers. It's about 66 pages right now and I haven;t written in it for several months.

That's a good point, Susan. After thinking about it for a little bit, I've started a file of Family Stories that I'll start filling out and getting down in writing. I've got a story from the Civil War, the old west,and quite a few from the Great Depression days.

It's not too late for me to talk to my parents and learn more stories, before those stories are gone forever.

I think it's a great idea. I wish my family had done something similar. I have a friend who is writing a compilations she's calling "lessons I learned" for her nephew and it's mostly the same sort of thing - things she's done and what she learned from it - a history of her life with side notes.

If you don't mind me asking, would you mind sharing the name of the other forum you mentioned because this one is getting old and going downhill quickly in many aspects.
