well it's great for normal use ( opening letters, the nail fail, screw driver, the pen, etc. ). the knife is kinda small, but it is intended to open letters and ( very ) light duty work, so in that perspective its great, but i wouldnt use it for heavy duty stuff...but it is away better than a razor blade.

I have a Gerber Micro LST in my PSK, CRK in my pocket (but you did say "in" the PSK). It has a blade slightly larger than a scalpel blade and a securely attached handle, very light.

Can anyone explain how the Columbia River Knife and Tool K.I.S.S. (CR-5550) works? (http://premiumknives.com/ShopSite/Folding_Knives_Menu.html)

I can't quite figure it out from the picture. The "24 Karat" version has a bigger picture, but there appear to be three knives in it - one of them is the knife opened up, and I assume one of them is the same knife closed and turned over; but what is the third one? It's a different shape; is it a different version of the same knife? there's no explanation.
It appears that the knife, when closed, has the unshielded blade lying alongside the handle, instead of being enclosed inside. Is that right? If so, how safe can that be?
And what was the brilliant idea that the designer had when he designed the "Delilah's P.E.C.K." (model 5520)? It looks identical to the 5550, which is quite a bit more expensive.
It may be a neat site, but their marketing sux. :-(

>>It appears that the knife, when closed, has the unshielded blade lying alongside the handle, instead of being enclosed inside. Is that right? If so, how safe can that be?<<
Yes, the blade is unshielded. Itīs ground on one side side only. The side that lies on the handle is flat. The knife locks like liner lock. Carrying it is safe. Itīs easier to clean than a closed model.
The safety in use depends on the bolt, that holds the blade. If it comes loose, the lock could fail. Because of the design, the bolt gets more load than that of a folder with two plates for the handle. So that design isnīt one of my favorites.

well I dont use the x-acto blades any more because one day I was practicing survival skills and tried to make a handle for the scalpel blades and in the proccess cut a slit in the tip of my finger. mabe it was just stupidity but each kit is made for thel person and me personaly I cant make that work out.

ballonman

I'm all fingers when it comes to small items requiring care when being handled. The dexterity just isn't like it used to be so the small SAK gets the nod in my kits.

I use the Bayha scalpel blades. They can be used without attaching a handle.
