the only sharps I carry in my PSK are 2 scalpel blades and I believe I need more. what about a victorinox classic or another very small knife. Any suggestions?

Any knife that will fit into a pocket tin is going to be hampered by A. size and B. taking up valuable space for other gear. Think of the actual duties such a knife must perform. Columbia River Knife Works offer small,LOCKING blades at a reasonable price. The other option is to simply make carry of a quality folder along with your PSK a part of your routine.

I carry a classic in mine. It takes up more room than the razor blades. Room that might be filled by something else, but I like having the added safety of the knife over razor blades and the added tools are a plus in my opinion.

I've just had an idea.
what about using the blade from a victorinox swiss card for my PSK. What do you think?

I made a knife for my PSK from an old cutting tool. Itīs about 2 " long, 3/4 " broad and 1/6 " thick. The knife has a drop point blade. Because of the relative thickness you can apply much pressure for cutting. The steel holds an edge for a long time.
If you canīt make a knife, the victorinox might be a good idea.

The blade of the Swiss Card is for opening mail envelopes. I wouldn't trust that tiny thing for any survival task except maybe nail cleaning (..and a nail file/cleaner is anyway included in the SC... [censored]... mine was confiscated by some paranoid Italian Security oficer, who was sure I might threaten the security of the plane with that toy..)

Although it rides on my keychain, I would consider the Spyderco Ladybug for a small PSK. Weighs only 1/2 ounce and is 2.5" closed. It is a fierce little cutter with a locking blade that far outdoes the SAK Classic as a micro sharp. (Though perhaps if I were in strictly urban mode I still might take the SAK Classic with the built-in pen - I use that feature a lot!)

Here's the spec sheet over at Spyderco:

http://www.spyderco.com/dealer_product_info.asp?sts=10%2F5%2F2002+12%3A27%3A09+PM&pfid=LB&deptId=1010&mscssid=PVH7C8BL9R9L9PEU8Q3MHH8LPA9X0R89

why not put the complete victorinox swiss card ( or other survival card ) on top of your psk than, and put tape/paracord or whatever around the kit to secure the card on the tin.
personally i prefere mine victorinox swiss card in my wallet though...

Not to be negative PC2K, but are you satisfied with the victorionox swiss card? I don't own one, but have seen them in the store, and they struck me as kind of flimsy. What's your review?
