Yep, though I'd say it is more shades of gray than black and white.

I have uses for knives for everything from my little swiss army classic, with it's flexible, puny <2" blade, which gets used a lot these days, and the big fusion battle mistress from Busse, which splits 4" chunks of wood fairly easily and will bust up bricks and chop through 10p nails without any real edge damage.

I guess the working dichotomy of knives is to have a variety from which to choose, and being able to use any in particular to it's fullest to get the job at hand accomplished.
