Does anyone have any experience with either lumbar or fanny
packs and LBE's? Has anyone ever had a custom pack made up?
I want one that combines the advantages of both.

I'd be interested in any replies you receive.

I am looking for a fanny pack, rucksack, or whatever (roughly 4x6x9 inches) that'll carry my gear for the day without making me look even more like a geek than I already do.

Craig

I have a modular system for my kit(s). I start with my DCPK which is in my pants pocket everyday with a large SAK and a Silva compass.

Next is a compact 35mm camera case kit that can be worn on a belt. This is usually carried in my book bag daily.

The third level is a small cordura fanny pack that looks normal. It carries quite a bit of gear for its size.

The fourth level gets into my hunting mode. I have a full LBE set up with a butt pack and 1 qt canteen with canteen cup. I also carry a large knife, usually just a USAF SK. This also holds my Redhawk and up to 60 round of .44 special and magnum ammo.

An alternative to my 4th level is a fleece daypack that is usually carried while bowhunting, but contains mostly the same gear as the LBE.

Finally, I have a fifth level which is a Medium Alice pack with enough goodies for at least three days in any conditions.

Hope this gives you some ideas!

Plainsman
Plainsman's Cabin Homepage
Plainsman's Cabin Forums
