A friend just returned from the Haj, or pilgrimage to Mecca. After satisfying his craving for mexican food, we looked at his treasures. I was immediately attracted to a small prayer rug with a compass rose woven into the design complete with arabic script above the "key" where the user kneels. Supposedly this will insure the user's proper facing to Mecca for prayers worldwide. After calibrating the thing with the sun, we checked with a Silva and world map. We acertained it was pointing directly at Salt lake City.
