Do you guys wash your hands frequently? The recent study by UK medical council found that men are notorious for failing to wash their hands after using the washroom.

Duh. If they want to waste money, I'll take it.

Working in microbiology lab, I wash my hands before and after hitting the bathroom grin.

Interesting question! Since having a splenectomy to treat an immume system problem, I've developed a new awareness about possible sources of infection. In additional to normal hygiene practices, I am especially careful to wash after shaking hands and touching anything that might be a possible source of infection.

Up at elk camp, I would fill a 5 gallon insulated water cooler with hot water and add a little bleach. Any time someone needed to clean up, they would use the cooler and if I needed to clean a utensil up real quick I could use it as well.

Like I've said before, no one ever got sick in any of my camps.

The funny thing is your urine is basically the same chemical makeup as sweat but no one ever washes their hands after wiping sweat,
I read a study once that said a computer keyboard has more germs than a public toilet, all that stuff that gets under your nails gets on the keys.

IMO, if wash them too often your immune system will weaken with time. I'm considering the potential threat as a sort of general vaccination, but for free smile Just use the common sense when washing of your hands is a must (like after visiting clinic and before eating).

As the old joke about the sailor and the Marine goes, my momma taught me not to pee on my hands. And I flush with my foot.

I worry more about the handles on shopping carts at a supermarket. Thank God some stores not provide wetwipes, to you can clean those things...

The first thing I do everytime I come back from outside is washing my hands and I follow the other general guidelines and since I've been doing that, I've never been seriously sick and it must have been about three years now. I think you can not wash your hands too often, as long as you don't use antibacterial soap. Just regular soap. From the College of American Pathologists : Antibacterial products may cause long-term problems. Because they kill weaker strains of bacteria, stronger, more resistant germs can flourish.
