I like the Idea of this knife.

What are the thoughts from the rest of you folks

Anybody use one?

The folder I use is a victorinox traker, love it but have been a fan of swiss army knives for about 33 years( got my first when I was 6 and went to the factory with my son 2 years ago)

Thanks for any ideas

I cary a custom knife from Randell W Gilbreath now, which he made about 20 years ago

I have a few Gerber products, and they have all held up well. I have 3 knives, a hatchet, and a folding saw. I think Gerber tries to give you reasonable bang for the buck. They are not a high end knife, but, better than average for their price. You can get an LMF II for under $80 online. That's a fair price for a well balanced knife.

I don't know how the Sandvick 12C27 stainless compares with some of the more expensive knives using CPM S30V. It also has to feel right in YOUR hands, and have the features YOU want. Lots of people here don't like the semi-serrated blade, preferring either one or the other. I happen to do a lot with rope when camping, and lines on the boat, so I like having the serrations for that.

I have one and absolutely love it. It's nice and heavy, and keeps an edge like nobodies business.

I used alot of time finding reviews and info on this knife when I was looking for something new, but there was always something wrong,IMHO, with this knife: 1) I think that the holes for making the knife into a spear are just a gimmik, if you are planning on doing this then you shouldn't be outdoors in the first place, 2) the "skull crusher" pommel may work on helicopter windows but I don't see myself being in that situation and 3)the sharpener I feel is also a gimmik. The positive things about the knife are the double snaps and that the sheath holds the knife, all of this to make sure that you don't loose it.
In the end I bought a Fällkniven A1 and I am VERY pleased with it. I was expensive but I wanted something that i could beat up and would work and it does everything I ask of it and more!
Good luck hunting for your knife.

You are talking about the LMF II. I have the original LMF that hasn't been made for several years now but still available on e-bay and other places. Yeah the LMF II isn't exactly my kind of knife either.
