I have used denatured alcohol in my Zippo when i ran out of fluid at work. It evaporated pretty quickly but I made it through the rest of the day until i made it to the store to buy some more fluid.

I had read somewhere that diesel fuel would work in a Zippo but unfortunately it DOES NOT WORK. I had to take all the cotton out of the Zippo and replace it to get the stink of diesel out of it. I am pretty sure I replaced the wick on it too just to get it to light and stay lit.

I will be getting me a couple of these peanut lighters in the next week or so i hope. I like new ways to make fire. (especially to light my Camels)

Now why would that be bad to Blast?

Aloha Pete,

Do you find that it gets very hot when you use it? It looks like it might.

I just lit the lighter, holding it halfway down. Around 30 seconds the lighter became warm, but still comfortable to hold. At 45 seconds the lighter was becoming very warm and I extinguished the flame.
